What do you know about Fairbanks??? It is situated in the largest state of USA with a population of 31535. Fairbanks is also known as the Golden Heart City and it spreads across an area of 84.6km2. The city was founded in August 1901 by Captain E.T. Barnette and was named after Charles W. Fairbanks who was the 26th Vice President of USA. Fairbanks is located in the Tanana Valley with branches of Chena River and Tanana River.
A beautiful scenery of White mountains and the Yukon River is seen to the northern side of the city. Alaska and Fairbanks is suitable for cold weather lovers as most of the year it has cold climates including long cold winters and short summers with lot of annual precipitation. during winter times, snow fall can be very high. Basically this is because of the low lying location of the city in the valley that enables cold wind to accumulate there.
The city includes many places of interest too. Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge is a beautiful bird sanctuary with large land masses of forests, wetlands and fields. A fine tourist attraction is the El Dorado Gold Mine of Fairbanks. Other places worth a visit include Fairbanks Curling Club, Georgeson Botanical Garden, Gold Dredge No. 8, Robert G. White Large Animal Research Station, Pioneer Park, Riverboat Discovery and Birch Hill Recreation Area.
